During my time as your commissioner, I have been involved with a number of projects that have improved Beaver County. If reelected, I will continue to be a leader in making Beaver County better than ever.
MODERNIZING COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE
Oversaw the construction and completion of:
- the new Beaver County Courthouse, which now meets ADA standards, has expanded security, and serves the community more than ever.
- a new courthouse parking garage, which provides better access to the court house while taking the burden off of the neighborhood streets.
- A new jail with state of the art security which has allowed no escapes
and saved millions of dollars in energy cost due to its geothermal
heating and cooling systems.
- a new district magistrate office in Hopewell Twp.
- the Beaver County Human Service building, located in Beaver Falls.
- 8 new bridges throughout the county, with the 9th currently under construction.
- a new Beaver County Conservation District Outdoor Education Center, which provides environmental and conservation education to hundreds middle schoolers each year.
I helped rescue the Community College of Beaver County from being downsized, or closed, due to lack of funding from its sponsors. I helped create the financing plan to provide a $26 million dollar renovation to meet current ADA standards, and to update the school's 30-year-old mechanical systems and roofs.
I also oversaw renovations in the former geriatric center and its transformation into Friendship Ridge. Prior to its renovation, Friendship Ridge was losing millions of dollars each year. Now, with new outside management and help from the employees, Friendship Ridge is making a profit. More importantly, it can now better serve our neediest fellow Beaver Countians.
I initiated public access, through the county's website, to all of the Courthouses' public documents. These records are now searchable via the Internet, and people are no longer restricted to access of the records.
KEEPING AND CREATING JOBS IN THE COUNTY
I have worked to create a number of business parks within the county, which create countless, family-sustaining jobs
I helped to create the WestGate Business Park, located in Big Beaver along Rt. 18. This park provides "shovel-ready" sites to attract new companies to Beaver County.
I was also involved in the expansion of the Hopewell Business and Industrial Park.
I worked with private developers and municipal officials to create the Center Township Retail Center, which houses the Target Department Store. The area is quickly growing, as more retail stores and restaurants begin to move into the area.
IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN BEAVER COUNTY
I have spent a lot of time working to renovate our county's beautiful parks with new complexes and projects.
Brady's Run Park:
- added new ice chillers to the ice arena
- created a rollerblade/deck hockey rink
- paved the walking trail
- opened a lake for public swimming
- created a dog park
- developed a new skate park (in progress)
Brush Creek Park:
- installed a public water system
- developed a plan for future snowboarding site
Old Economy:
- paved the park roads
- created a baby pool at the Old Economy swimming pool
I have also instituted late season archery hunting in restricted areas at all three of the parks.
