I want to, if I am reelected, continue to run the county like a business: I will provide services efficiently, and effectively, at minimal cost to meet the demands citizens have of their local government. I will maintain a policy of lean operations, and reduce bureaucracy, by running a tight ship.
I will continue to initiate improvements in facilities that impact our quality of life to retain in Beaver County, and attract new ones.
One way I plan to improve our quality of life is to intitiate a work-release program with the Beaver County Jail. Inmates will be called upon to do community service for the county and for local non-profit organizations. These non-violent inmates will provide services such as:
- cleaning neglected cemetaries
- removing pollution from our streams
- performing assigned by local governments
- aiding non-profits, churches, and clubs with projects
The Beaver County Jail Community
Service Program started last Spring,
and got off to a good start over the Summer. If re-elected,
I will continue to work with the project as they continue to
work through the Fall and Winter months. Projects accomplished
by the program so far include:
- work for the Beaver County Housing Authority
- clean-up after the Monaca Community Days
- clean-up at the Monaca boat docks for the
Fish and Boat Commission
- Aliquippa emergency flood clean-up (logging
over 2,000 hours)
- various smaller projects in Rochester Twp.,
Independence Marsh, Darlington Twp., and Beaver Falls.
I will also continue to improve, and create new, recreational facilities within our county. I have developed a plan for a new skate park within Brady's Run and will continue to oversee its construction during a new term. I will work to create more swimming locations as well as hiking trails within the county in order to promote healthy outdoor activities for citizens and visitors.
I understand the need for more family-sustaining jobs in Beaver County, and I will continue to work with private developers and contractors to develop opportunies for industrial, commercial, and retail growth.
I will continue my involvement with the future I-376 designation, and work with state and federal legislators to meet the Federal Highway Administration standards.
I will cut through the red tape of state funding in order to secure the construction of our Veteran's Memorial Bridge, which will link Rt. 65 to Rt. 51. The bridge is scheduled for construction in 2008, and, if reelected, I will oversee its construction. The Veteran's Memorial Bridge will accomodate all vehicles, as well as provide a key link to a river-based trail system.
